Course Description: Instruction in principles,
procedures, and regulations involving legal and ethical relationships among
physicians, patients, and medical assistants. Includes current ethical issues
as they relate to the practice of medicine and fiduciary responsibilities. |

Learning Outcomes: The student will recognize
the importance of and adhere to the Patient's Bill of Rights; define general
legal terms as they apply to the practice of medicine; and differentiate
between sources and types of law in Texas and the U.S. The student will
maintain and manage patient records in an ethical and legal manner; and
identify and differentiate among traditional and contemporary views and
philosophical principles of bioethics, ethics relevant to medical practice. |
