ATC Teacher Requirements - More Information
How do I know if I am fully certified by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC)?
- View your SBEC certificate here: SBEC Certification Search.
- If you are fully certified, your certificate will be listed as either "Standard" or "Provisional." Your certificate must be in the teaching discipline of the course (i.e. a "Physical Education" certificate will not cover agriculture courses).
- The ATC Approval Office does not consider you fully SBEC certified if:
- You have no certification listed at all.
- Your certification is listed as "Emergency Permit", "One Year" or "Probationary."
- Your certification is not in the teaching discipline.
- Your certification has expired.
What do I do if the ATC Office does not consider me as fully SBEC certified?
You can still be approved to teach courses for Advanced Technical Credit, but you will be asked to submit certain information to the ATC Office to show that you meet the requirements. When the ATC Office evaluates your ATC Application and finds that you are not SBEC certified in the teaching discipline you will be asked to submit the following:
- If you meet Requirement 1, you must have your official transcripts showing your degree sent to the ATC Office directly from the college or university.
- If you meet Requirement 2, you must have your official transcripts showing your degree sent to the ATC Office directly from the college or university. You must also submit full work history information to the ATC Office using the ATC Employment Form.
