ATC Approvals Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the ATC Program have requirements?

Since the purpose of ATC courses is to give students credit at community colleges for technical courses taken in high school, the teachers of these courses are expected to have the same educational and employment background as their community college counterparts. The ATC Leadership committee (a group of high school and college faculty and administrators) has developed the ATC teacher requirements to make sure that the teachers that are approved have this background. In approving a teacher to teach an ATC course, we are telling the community colleges that participate in the ATC Program that the teacher meets these requirements.
